Best photojournalistic wedding “Proud of you Son” by Julie Robichaud-Martin

“Proud of you son” is all about being in the right place, at the right time. A candid/freestyle photographer’s job is to take photos that tell a story, it’s that simple. When I’m the freestyle photographer, I become part of the décor by using my long zoom lens, allowing me to capture everything that is happening during a wedding without being noticed.

Sometimes, there is more action behind the scenes. Cecilia & Michael wanted to take the wedding pictures before the ceremony (so they could be with their guests during the cocktails after the ceremony) so, we got the immediate family to met us at a park in downtown Ottawa. As soon as Michael’s father stepped out of the car, he walked towards him with a smile….. I positioned myself so the sun was in front of my lens to obtain natural backlighting and never took my eyes off Dad…. and this image resulted.

I take my best candids when I am not directing people, so, in my opinion, every wedding should be photographed with two photographers- one that directs and one that blends into the background. At Studio G.R. Martin, all photographers rotate between first & second photographers, it helps us perfect all aspects of wedding photography.
