WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO AND ARE THEY EVEN LISTENING

(Submission by Crystal Mercredi). Are you being intentional with your audience? Many photographers are running sole proprietorships, which means you are the be-all-end-all of every responsibility in running your business. Time not spent intentionally when it comes to marketing is most often time you’re wasting, or worse, potentially even damaging your reach. Stop wasting time trying to market yourself to everyone with a pulse.

LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE

MANITOBA POLAR BEAR
(Submission by Jacquie Matechuk). Love Where you Live (Falling in love with HOME all over again) In a time of global limitations and incapacitated socialization, staying motivated with day-to-day life has been a challenge to say the least. And if you’re a photographic artist, well it’s likely the strain has affected not only your spirits but your pocketbook as well. Even with the tremendous support of organizations such as our beloved PPOC, there’s only so much time behind a keyboard one can handle.

VISION

(Submitted by Stefan Malloch.) Perhaps one of the most important aspect of photography, or anything for that matter, is vision. Without it, one may not even begin what might be a rewarding journey, a bucket list goal, or even a photo that has been floating around in the imagination forever.

Let your audience feast on a buffet of Rembrandt inspired delicacies. Garnish an image with a morsel of Lebovitz-esque lighting. Spice things up with posing nicked from Michelangelo.

HALLOWEEN PHOTOGRAPHY - CHILD VAMPIRE

MOON BATS
(Submission by Heather Friar). I have had the pleasure of working for Shadow’s Gate Charity Haunt in Leduc Alberta for a few years now as their principle photographer. They raise money for the local food bank. Last year we brought several of the characters into my home studio to get some “wicked” shots using strobes. Anyone who has seen my art will know that type of image is right up my alley. I love taking literary characters and bringing them to life and have been heavily influenced by Rembrandt and Film Noir type lighting.
