What Is The World Photographic Cup?

As per their website,

"The World Photographic Cup is a competition of teams of photographers representing their home  countries. Each country is allowed to enter one team. Each team develops its own process for choosing images to enter

Teams may enter up to three images in each of six categories:

  • Portrait
  • Wedding
  • Commercial (including advertising, architecture, industrial, fashion)
  • Illustrative/Digital art
  • Reportage / Photojournalism
  • Nature (Landscape / Wildlife)

Teams may choose to enter the images of a single photographer in multiple categories. However, no single photographer may have multiple images entered into a single category. Gold (1st), Silver (2nd), and Bronze (3rd)  medals will be awarded to the individual creator in each category. Teams are awarded points based on aggregate score of top ten placements in all categories. The World Photographic Cup will be awarded to the national team which receives the highest score."

Competition in 2020:

The competition 2020 is now closed, with about 40 national teams registered for this edition, from 5 continents. The judging is completed, and the finalists were announced this past Jan.20th at the Imaging USA conference in Nashville, Tennessee. It is very exciting knowing that Canada had four images make the top ten when forty-three countries submitted in this one-of-a-kind international team photo contest. The competition is fierce, and we should be very proud.” Gerry David, Captain of Team Canada stated.

Photographers from 23 countries around the globe have been named finalists and the medals will be presented in Rome, Italy on March 23, 2020. Depending on their final ranking, all these images have the chance to help propel Team Canada to bring home the World Photographic Cup.

All the Canadian entries can be viewed on the WPC Team Canada website: www.worldphotographiccup.ca.

Congratulations to our Canadian Finalists! The fact that they are all members of PPOC is a credit to our organization as well as to each photographer's amazing talents.
