PPOC Lower Mainland Branch invites you to "Mount Seymour Winter Hike” with Jonathan Buchner
The Hike
We are excited to get out into the mountains with Jonathan to go on a Snowshoe hike up at Mount Seymour to do some adventure photography. On this hike you will learn fundamentals of backcountry landscape & adventure photography.

About Jon
Hello, I'm Jon.
I'm all about adventure photography, where my passions for mountaineering and photography, intertwine. From the vast beauty of landscapes to the thrill of adventure sports and the awe-inspiring world of astrophotography, I find joy living in, and capturing these moments.
Looking ahead, my professional aspirations revolve around a blend of marketing and branding work, combined with the hands-on experience of conducting outdoor photography workshops. I envision a future where I can balance these elements, sharing my love for the outdoors while creating impactful visual narratives.
Important notes
- You must have some hiking experience
- ID is required, please bring with you
- You will be responsible for bringing up necessary winter gear - *see below for gear list
- We will be renting snowshoes from Mount Seymour
- M+S or Snow tires are required to drive up to Mount Seymour
- We will be closely monitoring the weather and safety conditions with Mount Seymour. If conditions are not safe, the hike will be postponed until we can ensure everyone’s safety.
Your Ticket
- Covers the Winter Hike and workshop with Jonathan
- Snowshoe rentals are separate to your ticket fee - approximately $40 with a trail pass (These will be set aside for everyone who needs it and you will need to pay in person separate to your ticket cost). We may or may not require snowshoes depending on the conditions and how packed down the snow is
- You are welcome to bring your own snowshoes if you have them
Gear List
Winter hiking clothes
***avoid cotton clothing***
Winter hike wear (Goal with clothing is to stay warm, but avoid sweating)
- Proper under, mid and outer later (fleece, merino wool, waterproof pants, etc)
- Wool socks
- Gloves
- Toque
- Neck warmer
- Winter boots/hiking shoes
- Extra layer for when we stop moving
- Snowshoes - rentals available for those who need it
- If you own a set of Crampons/Shoe spikes, we suggest you bring those as well just in case
Photography Gear
This is up to you. Jon typically uses a 24-70 on his full frame paired with a 70-200 on a 2nd crop camera.
Other
- Snacks/Lunch
- Water bottle
- Flask with warm beverage
- Sun protection
- First aid kit (***any medications you may need***)
- Emergency toilet paper
