Louise says “I believe strongly that if you can only invest once to hire a portrait photographer to capture your children do it between ages 4 and 6 before their teeth start falling out and they are still little kids. Every child should have a gorgeous timeless image of themselves to share with their own children and look back on. Children grow up so fast.”

“My goal is to capture that special time in your life. Let you be you. Let your kids be kids. Having portraits done does not have to be a chore or be stressful in the least!

I have a cozy and comfortable portrait studio in Charlottetown, PEI and absolutely love to create contemporary black and white, and fine art colour portraits. If outdoor is your preference, I can help plan location, time of day, clothing and more to help create a treasured portrait."

It’s a real skill, being able to capture those moments when children are being themselves. Louise says “My desire is to work together to create unforgettable 'real' images that become portrait art for your home. To preserve your memories so you, your children, and your children's children will have a tangible piece of their history to look back on for many years.”

Louise has been an award-winning professional photographer for close to 30 years. Although she still loves her wedding and commercial work, she says “I am now focusing on my passion for contemporary fine art portraits with the highest skill in controlled studio lighting and simplicity to record my subjects in an emotive way.

I tend to stay away from current trends and have a special love for timeless black and white, and vintage portraits displayed with simplicity to complement any decor.”

An emotional portrait of a young girl by Louise Vessey

“With photos of our children growing up, living on our phones, online, and on our hard drives, I feel passionate that our images, particularly of our children, deserve a special place in our homes as a portrait displayed on the wall. A digital file comes and goes. It is not always there; you have to go and find it. It is not passed in the hallway when your kids go to bed every night. It is not seen by friends and family above the mantle. A printed piece displayed in a contemporary gallery frame will live in your home for a generation or more. It has a physical presence. It can be the source of a smile as you glance at it while going about your busy life. For this reason, printed photographs become one of a family's most prized possessions.

My goal is to create a contemporary, yet timeless piece of art that lives in your home and evokes emotion and memories. Whether it is your custom designed wedding album, baby album, or wall piece, it truly becomes more valuable over time."
