Create And Unite Photography Project
CREATE AND UNITE was borne out of the desire to encourage photographers, both PPOC members and non-members, to keep up with their craft, or to provide inspiration for them to try something new, when they suddenly found themselves sidelined by the pandemic. As Canada ground to a halt, all nonessential busniess ceased - including photography sessions. This temporary closure of business challenged photographers to look to the confines of their homes in new and unique ways.

Each Monday a new theme is launched and participants have until the following Sunday to create an image to share on our Create And Unite page. At the end of the week, we put together a slideshow that showcases all of the different interpretations and variations on the theme. It is truly inspiring to see the diverse talents of photographers in each of these weekly compilations.

Although many businesses have begun to reopen and we are continuing to phase in new opportunities, this little project has held interest for many photographers, and we have decided to keep it going! After all, we are here to both Create And Unite!

I am really enjoying the Create & Unite account on Instagram. Tina and Sébastien are doing an incredible job sharing images that not only promotes our membership, but also showcases amazing photographs from all over the world. The weekly challenges have inspired me to get my camera out more, as well as to dig back through my archives to see what fits this week’s theme. « Create And Unite » est né de notre intérêt d’encourager les photographes, membres des PPOC ou non, à continuer de pratiquer leur art ou de simplement les inspirer à essayer quelque chose de nouveau lors du confinement imposé par la pandémie, alors que les entreprises non-essentielles canadiennes étaient toutes à l’arrêt complet (dont les sessions photographiques). Cette fermeture temporaire des entreprises a donné le défi aux photographes d’observer leur propre résidence d’un autre œil et de trouver des façons uniques de les photographier.

Chaque lundi, un nouveau thème est annoncé et les participants ont jusqu’au dimanche suivant pour créer une image et la partager sur notre page « Create And Unite ». À la fin de la semaine, nous réalisons un montage vidéo mettant en vedette les différentes propositions des photographes sur notre thème. C’est réellement inspirant de voir la diversité dans le talent des photographes dans chacune de ces compilations hebdomadaires.

Même si plusieurs entreprises ont commencé à se remettre au travail avec tous les défis que cela comporte, notre petit projet semble avoir conservé son intérêt pour plusieurs photographes et nous avons décidé de le maintenir en vie! Après tout, nous sommes là pour créer et resté unis !

J'apprécie vraiment le compte Create & Unite sur Instagram. Tina et Sébastien font un travail incroyable en partageant des images qui non seulement promeut notre adhésion, mais présente également des photos étonnantes du monde entier. Les défis hebdomadaires m'ont inspiré à sortir davantage mon appareil photo, ainsi qu'à fouiller dans mes archives pour voir ce qui correspond au thème de cette semaine. J'ai également été inspirée à essayer de nouvelles techniques et à partager davantage mon travail sur les réseaux sociaux.
